Main Ingredients- 200g ground pork
- 200g gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 1 Tbsp cooking wine (mirin or similar)
- 2 pinches salt
- A pinch of black pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, season the 200g of ground pork with 2 pinches of salt, a pinch of black pepper, and 1 tablespoon of cooking wine. Mix well by gently kneading. This step helps to remove any porky smell and ensures a tender texture.
Step 2
Finely chop the 3 green onion stalks and finely dice the 1 onion. Chopping them small will help them integrate smoothly into the gochujang paste.
Step 3
Heat 150ml of olive oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Add all the chopped green onions to the warm oil. Gently sautéing is key here.
Step 4
Continue to sauté the green onions until they turn slightly golden and release their fragrant aroma into the oil. Be careful not to burn them; slow and steady sautéing will infuse the oil with a deep onion flavor.
Step 5
Once the green onions have infused the oil with their flavor, add the diced onion, the seasoned ground pork, and 5 tablespoons of minced garlic to the pan. Continue to stir-fry.
Step 6
Stir-fry the mixture, breaking up the ground pork so it doesn’t clump together, until the onions are softened and the pork is cooked through. You’ll notice the color change as the pork cooks.
Step 7
Once the pork is well-cooked, add 3 tablespoons of sugar to sweeten the paste. Stir well to ensure the sugar dissolves and combines with the other ingredients.
Step 8
Now, add 200g of gochujang and 3 tablespoons of soy sauce. Stir everything thoroughly to ensure the gochujang coats all the ingredients. The soy sauce adds depth of flavor and a glossy finish.
Step 9
After everything is well combined, reduce the heat to medium and simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. Continue to cook until the paste thickens to your desired consistency. This completes your versatile seasoned gochujang paste! Allow it to cool completely before storing in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Enjoy!
