Ingredients
  • 80g Apple Puree (prepare by blending apples)
  • 120g Rice Flour
  • 10g Olive Oil

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

In a bowl, combine 80g of apple puree, 120g of rice flour, and 10g of olive oil. Mix everything together thoroughly. (To make apple puree, simply blend cored apples, with or without skin, until smooth.)

Step 2

Using a spatula or your hands, mix until a cohesive dough forms with no dry flour visible. If the dough is too wet or too dry, gradually add a little water or more rice flour to achieve a consistency that is easy for your baby to hold. It might feel sticky initially, but it will become smoother as you knead it.

Step 3

Lightly dust a cutting board or clean work surface with rice flour to prevent the dough from sticking. Place the dough on the dusted surface and use a rolling pin to flatten it to an even thickness of about 0.5 cm. Rolling it too thin might cause it to crumble easily, while making it too thick will require a longer baking time for the inside to cook.

Step 4

Cut the dough into bite-sized pieces that are easy for your baby to hold (e.g., 5cm x 2cm). Once shaped, gently press the pieces with a fork to create a pattern. This not only makes them easier for your baby to grip but also adds a cute visual touch to the rusks.

Step 5

Arrange the shaped rusks in a single layer in your preheated air fryer, ensuring they don’t overlap. Bake at 170°C (340°F) for approximately 20 minutes. Flipping them halfway through can help them brown evenly. Baking time may vary depending on your air fryer model, so keep an eye on them to prevent burning.

Step 6

Once baked, these teething rusks will release a subtle, sweet apple aroma. They are perfectly textured for your baby to chew on, offering a satisfyingly crisp exterior and a dense, cake-like interior. Encourage your baby to practice their chewing skills with these delightful rusks. If they seem too hard, let them cool slightly and check if they are at an appropriate hardness for your baby. Once completely cooled, store them in an airtight container at room temperature for 3-4 days, or freeze for longer storage.
