Main Ingredients
  • 140g Organic Tofu
  • 15g Carrot
  • 15g Bok Choy (or similar green vegetable)
  • 15g Beetroot
  • 15g Rice Flour

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Gather your ingredients for the three-color tofu balls: 140g of organic tofu, 15g each of carrot, bok choy (or similar green vegetable), and beetroot, plus 15g of rice flour. Using fresh, high-quality ingredients is important for your baby’s food.

Step 2

Blanch the tofu in boiling water for about 3-5 minutes. This helps remove any raw smell and firms up the tofu, making it easier to shape. After blanching, drain the tofu and press it firmly with paper towels to remove as much water as possible. Removing excess water is key to ensuring the tofu balls hold their shape nicely without becoming mushy.

Step 3

Divide the drained tofu into three portions, approximately 46-47g each, placing each portion into a separate bowl. This ensures that each color of tofu ball will be of a consistent size, making them easier for your baby to eat and more visually appealing.

Step 4

It’s best to pre-cook the vegetables like carrots, beetroot, and bok choy by blanching them. Lightly cooking them makes them easier for babies to digest and enhances their natural sweetness, adding more flavor to the tofu balls. Be aware that beetroot can impart a strong color; you can adjust the amount or substitute with other colorful vegetables if desired.

Step 5

Add 15g of finely minced beetroot to the first bowl of tofu. The beetroot will give the tofu balls a beautiful, vibrant red hue.

Step 6

In the second bowl of tofu, add 15g of finely minced carrot. Carrots not only add a lovely sweetness but also contribute a cheerful color that babies often enjoy.

Step 7

Now, mash the tofu in each bowl and mix it thoroughly with the minced vegetables. You can use your hands or a fork for mashing. Ensure the vegetables are evenly distributed throughout the tofu to achieve a beautiful, uniform color in each batch.

Step 8

To the tofu and vegetable mixture, add about 4-5g of rice flour to each bowl. Rice flour helps adjust the consistency of the mixture, making the tofu balls softer. Mix well again, then roll the mixture into small, bite-sized balls, about 1.5-2 cm in diameter, perfect for your baby to grasp. This is a wonderful step to do with your baby, encouraging their fine motor skills and making it a fun activity.

Step 9

Arrange the rolled three-color tofu balls on a piece of parchment paper in your air fryer. Cook at 170°C (340°F) for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, flip the balls and cook for another 10 minutes. This will result in tofu balls that are slightly crisp on the outside and wonderfully moist inside. Adjust the cooking time based on your air fryer’s performance.

Step 10

Your vibrant and delicious three-color tofu balls are ready! They make a perfect snack to support your baby’s healthy growth and mealtime enjoyment. Enjoy this delightful treat!
