  • Difficulty : Anyone

Main Ingredients
  • 3 sheets of Bang-eo-po (Dried Barracuda)

Seasoning
  • Pinch of sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • Generous amount of cooking oil

Bang-eo-po Marinade
  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 Tbsp Cheongju (Korean rice wine)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare 3 sheets of Bang-eo-po. In a small bowl, mix 1 tablespoon of sesame oil and 1 tablespoon of Cheongju. Evenly brush this mixture onto both sides of the Bang-eo-po sheets. Marinating it beforehand helps the savory flavor penetrate well and prevents burning during cooking.

Step 2

Cut the marinated Bang-eo-po into bite-sized pieces. You can cut them into small squares for children or into longer strips for an adult snack.

Step 3

Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a wide frying pan over medium-low heat. Add the cut Bang-eo-po pieces and stir-fry them constantly, turning them frequently. Bang-eo-po can burn easily if left unattended, so it’s crucial to keep stirring to ensure even cooking. Keep stirring gently over low heat to prevent burning.

Step 4

Once the Bang-eo-po pieces are becoming crispy, sprinkle them lightly with salt and sugar. Adding the seasoning too early can cause burning, so it’s best to sprinkle it on when the Bang-eo-po is almost fully fried.

Step 5

Transfer the well-cooked Bang-eo-po to a paper towel or parchment paper to drain off excess oil. While delicious immediately, letting it cool slightly will make it even crispier and more flavorful!

Step 6

Finally, sprinkle with sesame seeds to complete this delicious Grilled Bang-eo-po! Enjoy this dish, perfect as a side for rice or a tasty snack with a cold beer.
