  • 40g carrot (approx. 1/5 of a carrot)
  • A little cooking oil (1-2 Tbsp)
  • A pinch of salt (for seasoning)

Seasoning Ingredients
  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 0.5 Tbsp oyster sauce (1/2 Tbsp)
  • 1 Tbsp cooking wine (mirin)
  • 0.5 Tbsp minced garlic (1/2 Tbsp)
  • 1 Tbsp red pepper flakes (gochugaru)
  • 0.5 Tbsp brown sugar (1/2 Tbsp)
  • A pinch of black pepper
  • A little sesame seeds (or ground sesame)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Prepare all the ingredients to make a delicious stir-fried cabbage and shrimp dish. Wash the cabbage thoroughly. Peel and devein the shrimp, then cut them into bite-sized pieces. Prepare the carrots by slicing them thinly.

Step 2

Cut the cabbage into pieces about 2-3 cm in size. Slice the carrots thinly or dice them small. Peel and devein the shrimp. If the shrimp are large, cut them into 2-3 pieces. This ensures even cooking.

Step 3

Heat a pan over medium heat and add 1-2 tablespoons of cooking oil. Add the minced garlic and stir-fry until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Then, add the sliced carrots and sauté for about 20 seconds. Finally, add the prepared cabbage and shrimp to the pan.

Step 4

Add the seasoning ingredients: 1 Tbsp soy sauce, 0.5 Tbsp oyster sauce, 1 Tbsp cooking wine, 0.5 Tbsp brown sugar, 1 Tbsp red pepper flakes, and a pinch of black pepper. Sprinkle them evenly over the ingredients, being careful not to burn them.

Step 5

Turn the heat up to high and stir-fry everything together for about 3 minutes until the ingredients are well combined and the cabbage is tender-crisp. Avoid overcooking to maintain the cabbage’s delightful crunch. Taste and adjust the seasoning with a pinch of salt if needed. Finish by sprinkling with sesame seeds for added flavor.

Step 6

Give it one final toss, and your delicious stir-fried cabbage and shrimp in oyster sauce is ready! It’s wonderful served over hot rice or enjoyed as a side dish on its own.
