Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, melt the couverture chocolate. Place 200g of couverture chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well between each interval, until it’s completely smooth and melted. Be careful not to overheat or burn the chocolate. Once melted, pour the chocolate onto a baking sheet or a flat tray lined with parchment paper. Use a spatula to spread it evenly into a thin, flat layer. Spreading it uniformly will make it easier to break into neat pieces later.
Step 2
While the chocolate is still wet, immediately decorate it with your chosen dried fruits or nuts. Scatter colorful dried berries, zesty dried mango, or crunchy nuts for a visually appealing finish. Once decorated, place the tray in the refrigerator for about 5 minutes to set. Avoid refrigerating for too long, as the chocolate can become too hard to break easily. After 5 minutes, remove it from the fridge and break it into bite-sized pieces for a delicious bark chocolate treat!
Step 3
Now, let’s make the special ‘Shortbread Bark Chocolate’! Melt 200g of couverture chocolate in the same way as in step 1. Once melted and smooth, transfer the chocolate into a piping bag. Snip off the tip of the piping bag to create a small opening for the chocolate to flow through. If you don’t have a piping bag, you can use a ziplock bag with a corner snipped off.
Step 4
Arrange your shortbread cookies (about 20 pieces) on a baking sheet, leaving some space between them. Using the piping bag, drizzle the melted chocolate back and forth over the cookies, covering about half of each cookie. Aim for an even drizzle that connects the cookies and creates a lovely chocolate lattice. Don’t make it too thick or too thin. If you’re making this with children, have fun creating playful patterns!
Step 5
Before the chocolate sets, decorate the shortbread bark with dried fruits or nuts, just like in step 1. Adding a variety of colors and textures will make your bark chocolate even more appealing. Once all the toppings are in place, refrigerate for about 5 minutes until set. Your Shortbread Bark Chocolate is now complete! Isn’t it incredibly easy to create such a stunning dessert? Surprise your loved ones with this homemade sweet treat for a special occasion.
