Ingredients
  • 1 sheet of fresh seaweed (Nori or similar)
  • 1/2 small Korean radish

Seasoning
  • 1 Tbsp soup soy sauce (Guk-ganjang)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp gochugaru (Korean chili flakes), adjust to taste
  • A pinch of minced garlic
  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Prepare one sheet of fresh seaweed. It’s crucial to wash the seaweed thoroughly before cooking.

Step 2

Rinse the prepared seaweed several times in cold water to clean it thoroughly, then drain well. Cut the seaweed into bite-sized pieces. This process removes excess saltiness and impurities, while also improving the texture.

Step 3

Use half of a small Korean radish. For convenience, you can use a peeler to thinly julienne the radish, or slice it thinly with a knife. Slicing it thinly helps maintain its crispness and allows the seasoning to penetrate evenly.

Step 4

In a bowl, combine all the seasoning ingredients (soup soy sauce, salt, gochugaru, minced garlic) and mix well to create the dressing. Feel free to adjust the amount of gochugaru according to your preference.

Step 5

Add the thinly sliced radish and the rinsed seaweed to the prepared dressing.

Step 6

Gently toss the ingredients with your hands or use a spatula to ensure the seasoning is evenly distributed throughout the radish and seaweed. Avoid over-mixing, as this can cause the seaweed to become mushy.

Step 7

Once all ingredients are well combined with the seasoning, drizzle in the sesame oil and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds. Give it a final light toss to finish. The nutty aroma of sesame oil and the crunchy texture of sesame seeds add a delicious touch to the finished dish.
