Cooking Instructions
Step 1
To make the fragrant seasoned crown daisy, first trim off the tough ends of the crown daisy and wash it thoroughly under running water. Bring a pot of water to a boil, add 1 Tbsp of coarse salt. Add the crown daisy to the boiling water and blanch quickly for about 20-30 seconds, just until it wilts slightly and turns a vibrant green. Be careful not to overcook, as it can become mushy.
Step 2
Immediately rinse the blanched crown daisy under cold water. This helps to maintain its bright green color and preserve a crisp texture.
Step 3
Gently squeeze out the excess water from the crown daisy using your hands. If too much water remains, the seasoning can become diluted. Once the water is squeezed out, roughly chop the crown daisy into bite-sized pieces, about 3-4 cm long.
Step 4
Place the prepared crown daisy in a large bowl. Add the Korean soy sauce, minced garlic, sesame oil, and toasted sesame seeds. You can adjust the amount of seasoning to your preference.
Step 5
Now, gently mix the crown daisy with the seasoning using your hands, as if you are massaging it (“joom-joom”). Be careful not to crush the delicate greens. Mix until the seasoning is evenly distributed. Your delicious seasoned crown daisy is now ready.
Step 6
With just a few basic seasonings, your super simple seasoned crown daisy dish is complete, highlighting the unique aroma and flavor of the greens. It’s a perfect side dish for rice or a lovely accompaniment to other meals. The combination of tender texture and fragrant flavor is truly appetizing. Enjoy your meal!
