  • 2kg fresh strawberries
  • 1.5kg granulated sugar (adjust to strawberry sweetness)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare 2kg of fresh strawberries. The freshness of the strawberries is key to the final taste, so it’s a good idea to check their condition before removing the stems. Choosing ripe, red strawberries will result in a sweeter and tastier syrup.

Step 2

Carefully remove all the green stems from the strawberries. Leftover stems can impart a bitter taste and affect the syrup’s appearance, so thorough removal is important. After trimming, lightly rinse the strawberries under running water and pat them dry. Be careful not to wash them for too long, as they can become mushy.

Step 3

Now it’s time to mash the strawberries. You can finely chop them with a knife or use a potato masher for convenience. If you prefer a syrup with some texture from the fruit pieces, mash them coarsely. For a smoother consistency, mash them more finely. Adjust according to your preference.

Step 4

Add 1.5kg of granulated sugar to the mashed strawberries. It’s best to taste the strawberries first and adjust the amount of sugar accordingly. If the strawberries are not very sweet, you can add a little more sugar to match your taste. A common ratio is about 50-80% sugar by weight of the strawberries.

Step 5

Using a spatula or spoon, slowly stir the mixture to evenly combine the sugar with the strawberries. It’s crucial to stir sufficiently until the sugar at the bottom dissolves and blends well with the strawberry juice, allowing the deep flavors of the strawberries to infuse.

Step 6

As you stir the strawberry mixture, foam may appear on the surface. Skimming off this foam will result in a cleaner and more delicious syrup. Gently remove the foam with a spoon.

Step 7

Your delicious homemade strawberry syrup is now complete! Get ready to enjoy the fresh, healthy syrup you’ve made yourself.

Step 8

Transfer the finished strawberry syrup into clean, sterilized glass jars. Avoid filling the jars to the very brim; leave a little space. Seal the jars with lids and store them in the refrigerator. Properly refrigerated, the syrup can stay fresh for about 2-3 weeks.

Step 9

You can enjoy this strawberry syrup in various ways! Mix it with ice and water for a refreshing strawberry ade, or combine it with milk for a creamy strawberry latte. Simply add 4 tablespoons of strawberry syrup to milk and stir well for a cafe-quality strawberry latte. Whichever way you choose, you’ll be able to savor the rich, natural flavor of strawberries!
