Main Ingredients
  • 1/5 block of tofu (cut into baby-friendly pieces)
  • 1 Tbsp cornstarch or pancake mix
  • Cooking oil, as needed (for pan-frying)

Mild Sauce
  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce (low sodium recommended)
  • 1 Tbsp oligodang (adjust sweetness as needed)
  • 1 Tbsp mirin or cooking sake (cook off alcohol)
  • 1 Tbsp water

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, cut the tofu into bite-sized pieces that are not too thin, suitable for your baby. Then, thoroughly pat the tofu dry with paper towels. This step helps prevent oil splattering when frying and ensures a crispier texture.

Step 2

Coat each side of the dried tofu evenly with cornstarch or pancake mix. This coating helps the tofu hold its shape and allows the sauce to adhere better without becoming soggy.

Step 3

Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Pan-fry the tofu pieces until they are golden brown on each side. Be mindful of the heat to prevent burning.

Step 4

In a small bowl, combine 1 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 Tbsp oligodang, 1 Tbsp mirin (or cooking sake), and 1 Tbsp water. Whisk well to create a mild sauce. Adjust the amount of soy sauce according to your baby’s dietary needs.

Step 5

Once the tofu is nicely browned, pour the prepared sauce into the pan. Briefly braise the tofu on both sides, allowing the sauce to lightly coat it. Avoid over-braising, as this can make the dish too salty for a baby. Your delicious baby braised tofu is now ready!
