Main Ingredients- 240g sausages (e.g., Vienna, frankfurters, or your favorite type)
- 1 medium onion
Special Sauce Seasoning- 2 Tbsp ketchup
- 1 Tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste, adjust to taste)
- 1 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 Tbsp corn syrup or oligosaccharide (adjust sweetness)
- 2 Tbsp ketchup
- 1 Tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste, adjust to taste)
- 1 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 Tbsp corn syrup or oligosaccharide (adjust sweetness)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, peel and wash the onion thoroughly. Slice it into bite-sized pieces, about 1cm thick, either thinly sliced or diced. Prepare the sausages by cutting them into similar bite-sized pieces. For Vienna sausages, you can cut them in half or into desired shapes.
Step 2
Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil (or cooking oil) in a frying pan over medium heat. Using olive oil will add a more pleasant aroma.
Step 3
Once the oil is warm, add the sliced onion and sausages to the pan. Stir-fry over medium heat until the vegetables are slightly softened and the sausages are lightly browned. This should take about 3-4 minutes.
Step 4
When the sausages and onions are partially cooked, add 1/2 tablespoon of minced garlic. Continue to stir-fry for about 1 minute until the garlic becomes fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
Step 5
Now, let’s make the delicious sauce! Add 2 tablespoons of ketchup to the pan and mix it with the ingredients. Ketchup adds a sweet and tangy flavor that is especially loved by children.
Step 6
Next, add 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce for a boost of umami. Oyster sauce is a fantastic ingredient that elevates the overall flavor of the dish.
Step 7
Add 1 tablespoon of corn syrup or oligosaccharide for sweetness. You can substitute this with honey or sugar, but corn syrup or oligosaccharide will give the dish a nice glossy finish.
Step 8
Finally, add 1 tablespoon of gochujang (Korean chili paste) for a touch of Korean flavor. Adjust the amount of gochujang according to your preference for spiciness. (If you prefer a milder version for children, you can reduce or omit the gochujang).
Step 9
Once all the sauce ingredients are in, reduce the heat to low and let the sauces meld together for a moment. Then, stir everything together thoroughly, ensuring the sauce evenly coats the ingredients. Continue to cook for another 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and clings to the ingredients. Your delicious Sausage and Vegetable Stir-Fry is ready!
