Essential Ingredients
- 1 bowl of rice (warm)
- 1/4 onion
- 1/6 carrot
- 3 slices of processed ham
- 2 eggs
- 3 Tbsp ketchup
- A pinch of sugar
- A pinch of salt
- A pinch of black pepper
- A little cooking oil
Pikachu Shape Ingredients
- 1 sheet of dried seaweed (gim)
- 1 slice of processed cheese
- 1 sheet of dried seaweed (gim)
- 1 slice of processed cheese
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the ingredients for the fried rice inside the omurice. Finely dice the carrot and onion. Mince the sliced ham as well; this will improve the texture of the fried rice. For easier eating by children, it’s best to chop the ingredients as small as possible.
Step 2
Heat a little cooking oil in a pan. Add the diced onion, carrot, and ham, and stir-fry over medium-low heat until fragrant. When the vegetables become translucent and the ham releases its fat, it forms a delicious base for the fried rice.
Step 3
Add 1 bowl of warm rice to the stir-fried vegetables and ham. Mix in 3 tablespoons of ketchup, a pinch of sugar, a pinch of salt, and a pinch of pepper. Stir-fry evenly until everything is well combined. Ensure each grain of rice is coated with ketchup. Spread the fried rice on a wide plate to cool slightly; this will prevent it from clumping when shaping later.
Step 4
In a large bowl, crack 2 eggs and whisk them thoroughly with a pinch of salt and pepper. Pour the beaten egg mixture thinly onto a lightly oiled, preheated pan and cook until golden brown. It’s important to make thin, wide omelet-like sheets, as this will help create a beautiful shape when covering the fried rice. Make two sheets.
Step 5
Take the cooled fried rice and shape it into a round face using your hands. Form the round fried rice for the face, and then shape small, rounded portions of fried rice to attach to the sides for Pikachu’s ears. You can use the back of a spoon to smooth out the shapes for a neater finish.
Step 6
Cut the dried seaweed (gim) into shapes for Pikachu’s eyes, nose, and mouth, and attach them. You can also use the processed cheese to create the pupils of the eyes or highlight the cheeks for a more three-dimensional and cute Pikachu omurice. Decorate it beautifully to present a special lunch box to the children! Pika!
