  • 1 slice processed cheese
  • 2 strips bacon

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, it’s important to remove as much moisture from the tofu as possible. Slice the tofu horizontally into approximately 1cm thick pieces. You should get about 2-3 slices. Lightly sprinkle salt evenly on both sides of the sliced tofu for seasoning. This will help draw out some moisture and season the tofu, making it tastier.

Step 2

Now, let’s prepare the ingredients that will add savory and salty flavors. Finely shred the processed cheese and bacon. In a wide bowl, crack 1 egg and 1 egg yolk. Whisk them well with a fork or whisk until smooth. Add the shredded cheese, bacon, and if you like more flavor, dried chives and all-purpose flour (can be omitted if unavailable), and finally 1 tablespoon of grated Parmesan cheese. Stir everything together until well combined.

Step 3

Pat the tofu dry once more, carefully removing excess moisture. Use paper towels or parchment paper to press down on both sides of the tofu slices, absorbing any remaining water. Ensuring the tofu is dry helps the flour coating adhere properly and prevents it from falling apart during cooking. Now, coat both sides of the tofu evenly with the all-purpose flour. Gently shake off any excess flour.

Step 4

Dip the flour-coated tofu into the prepared egg mixture. Ensure both sides of the tofu are fully immersed in the egg mixture, turning them over to coat them evenly. This creates a nice coating on the tofu surface, which will result in a crispier and more flavorful pancake when cooked.

Step 5

Now it’s time to pan-fry to a golden brown! Heat a frying pan over medium heat and add a generous amount of cooking oil. Once the oil is sufficiently hot, carefully place the egg-coated tofu pieces into the pan. Depending on the size of your tofu, it’s best to cook 1-2 pieces at a time.
