Main Ingredients
- 1 handful of fresh seaweed (Palae)
- Peeled and deveined shrimp (adjust to your preference)
- 1 cup pancake mix (buchim garu)
- 1/2 cup glutinous rice flour (chapssal garu)

Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, rinse the fresh seaweed several times in cold water to thoroughly remove any dirt or debris. Squeeze out excess water. Finely mince the onion and carrot to add to the seaweed. Adding minced vegetables will enhance the texture and flavor of the pancakes.
Step 2
Peel and devein the shrimp, then rinse them clean and pat dry. Lightly dusting the shrimp with flour before adding them to the batter will help the batter adhere better and maintain a firm, bouncy texture when cooked.
Step 3
In a large bowl, combine the prepared seaweed, minced onion, and carrot. Add the pancake mix and glutinous rice flour. Using glutinous rice flour will make the pancakes extra crispy and chewy. Add a pinch of salt for seasoning. Gradually add water while mixing until you achieve a batter consistency that is neither too thin nor too thick. Mix well until no dry flour remains.
Step 4
Heat a pan generously with oil over medium heat. Spread a thin layer of the batter onto the hot pan. Arrange the prepared shrimp evenly over the batter. Spacing the shrimp apart will help them cook evenly without burning.
Step 5
Pan-fry on medium-low heat, flipping both sides until golden brown and crispy. When one side is cooked and the edges start to lift slightly, flip it over and cook the other side until golden brown. The pancakes are ready when the shrimp are pink and cooked through, and the entire pancake has a beautiful golden-brown color. Enjoy them while they’re hot!
