Main Ingredients
  • 4 slices of bread
  • Blueberry jam (or strawberry jam, etc.)
  • 4 slices of sandwich ham
  • 4 slices of cheddar cheese

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare 4 slices of bread. To achieve a softer bread roll, trim off the hard crusts from the edges of the bread using a knife.

Step 2

To make the bread easier to roll, flatten it thinly. Use a rolling pin or an empty bottle to firmly press down on the bread slices, making them thin. Be careful not to roll them too thin, as they might tear.

Step 3

Next, spread your chosen jam evenly over the flattened bread slices. Blueberry jam is suggested, but feel free to use any jam you have on hand, such as strawberry or grape jam. Avoid spreading too much jam, as it might ooze out when rolled.

Step 4

Place 4 slices of sandwich ham neatly on top of the jam. You can also cut the ham to fit the size of the bread if needed.

Step 5

Layer 4 slices of cheddar cheese on top of the ham. The cheese will add to the rich flavor of the roll.

Step 6

Starting from one end of the bread (opposite the jam-covered side), roll the ingredients tightly, pulling them towards you to prevent them from shifting. Gently pressing down the edge first before rolling can help keep the filling contained.

Step 7

Slightly fold over the very end of the bread roll and press gently. This acts like the ‘glue’ for kimbap rolls, helping to secure the roll and prevent it from unraveling.

Step 8

Roll the bread tightly and evenly from start to finish, as if you were making kimbap, ensuring the filling stays inside. Press firmly as you roll to keep the ham and cheese compactly tucked in.

Step 9

To help the rolled bread hold its shape and make it easier to slice, wrap each roll tightly in plastic wrap. Let them sit for about 10 minutes, similar to kimbap, to allow them to firm up.

Step 10

After 10 minutes, unwrap the rolls and slice them into bite-sized pieces (about 2 cm thick). Slicing while still wrapped in plastic will help maintain the roll’s shape and ensure clean cuts. Using skewers can also help prevent the rolls from falling apart as you slice.

Step 11

Finally, place the sliced bread roll sandwiches on skewers or arrange them attractively on a plate. Your cute, round bread roll sandwiches are complete! They are simple yet satisfying in both taste and appearance, perfect for kids’ snacks or special occasion lunchboxes.
