Smoked Salmon Bruschetta: The Perfect Appetizer for Wine Lovers
Elegant Smoked Salmon Bruschetta Recipe
You’ve worked hard today, so why not treat yourself to a delightful evening with a glass of wine and a perfect finger food? We recommend Bruschetta, a classic Italian appetizer, to share with your loved ones. Its delightful crunch and fresh toppings make it an ideal starter.
Ingredients
- 8 slices Garlic Baguette (pre-sliced is fine)
- 8 slices Smoked Salmon (approx. 100g)
- 1/4 Red Onion
- 20g Baby Greens Mix
- 10g Capers (about 1 Tbsp)
- 1/2 Lemon
- 70g Camembert Cheese
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the red onion. Remove the ends and slice it thinly into about 0.2cm strips. Soak the sliced onion in cold water for about 5 minutes to mellow its sharpness. After soaking, drain it thoroughly in a sieve. Rinse the baby greens mix under cold water, soak for 5 minutes to keep them crisp, and then drain well in a sieve.
Step 2
Now, let’s get the baguette crispy! Heat a pan over low heat. Place the garlic baguette slices in the pan and toast them gently on both sides until golden brown and slightly crisp, being careful not to burn them. While the baguette is still warm, spread the Camembert cheese evenly over each slice. The warmth of the bread will help the cheese melt slightly, creating a wonderfully creamy layer and enhancing the flavor.
Step 3
The star of our bruschetta is the delicious smoked salmon! Cut each slice of smoked salmon in half. This makes them easier to handle and eat in one bite.
Step 4
Time to assemble! On top of the warm, cheese-spread baguette slices, first place a small bundle of the baby greens. Then, layer on the drained, sliced red onion. Finally, artfully arrange the halved smoked salmon slices over the onions. The colorful layers will look incredibly appetizing.
Step 5
And there you have it – delicious bruschetta! Arrange the finished bruschetta on a serving plate. Sprinkle the capers over the top for little bursts of briny flavor. Finish by squeezing fresh lemon juice from half a lemon over everything. This adds a bright, zesty note that complements the salmon beautifully. Enjoy this elegant appetizer with your favorite wine!
