Soft Tofu Gratin: A Delight for Kids and Adults Alike
How to Make Delicious Tofu Gratin
Let me show you how to make a delightful tofu gratin that’s perfect as a snack for kids and a satisfying appetizer for adults. Its creamy texture and rich toppings make it a crowd-pleaser!
Ingredients
- Silken Tofu 1 pack (approx. 300g)
- Bell Pepper (any color) about 1/4
- King Oyster Mushroom 1/2
- Bacon 2 strips
- Olive Oil (a drizzle)
- Tomato Sauce (generous amount)
- Mozzarella Cheese (plenty!)
- Parsley Flakes (for garnish)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Slice the silken tofu into thick pieces, about 2cm wide. Let it drain on a sieve while you prepare the other ingredients. This helps to remove excess water, preventing the gratin from becoming too watery.
Step 2
Prepare the toppings for enhanced flavor. Dice the bell pepper into approximately 1cm cubes or julienne it. Slice the king oyster mushroom into similar-sized pieces.
Step 3
Cut the bacon into bite-sized pieces, about 1-2cm wide. Slicing all the ingredients to a similar size ensures they cook evenly and make for a visually appealing dish.
Step 4
Now, let’s assemble the gratin! Arrange the drained silken tofu pieces in an oven-safe or microwave-safe gratin dish. Spread a generous layer of tomato sauce over the tofu. Don’t be shy with the sauce; it adds a lot of flavor!
Step 5
Next, evenly distribute the prepared bell peppers, king oyster mushrooms, and bacon over the tofu and sauce. Feel free to add other ingredients you enjoy, like onions or corn kernels.
Step 6
Top it all off generously with mozzarella cheese. The melted cheese will bind everything together and add a wonderfully creamy, cheesy flavor. Sprinkle some parsley flakes over the top for a beautiful finish.
Step 7
Microwave for about 3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. If the cheese isn’t fully melted, continue microwaving in 1-minute intervals until it reaches your desired consistency. (Alternatively, bake in a preheated oven at 190°C (375°F) for 10-15 minutes, or use an air fryer). Enjoy your delicious homemade tofu gratin while it’s hot!
