Spicy and Refreshing Snow Crab Ramen
A Perfect Hangover Cure: Baeks Recipe for Snow Crab Ramen
Craving crab but don’t want to commit to a whole king crab? I recently discovered a fantastic snow crab restaurant and ended up with some leftover body pieces. The next day, it hit me – perfect for ramen! Snow crab ramen is an absolute must after a crab feast, isn’t it? While just adding crab to ramen is delicious, elevating it with Baeks’ special seasoning paste creates an out-of-this-world, incredibly flavorful snow crab ramen. My husband and I were both absolutely delighted. With just a side of kimchi, it felt like a feast! This ramen is spicy, refreshing, and incredibly effective for hangovers. If you have any leftover crab, I highly recommend trying this recipe. The seasoning paste is pure love 🙂
Main Ingredients
- Snow crab body pieces, about 1.5 portions
- Ramen noodles, 2 packs
- Green onion, 1 stalk
- Dried seaweed, 1 handful (approx. 5g)
- Cooking oil, 3 Tbsp
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, soak about a handful of dried seaweed in cold water until it’s fully rehydrated. Once softened, gently squeeze out excess water.
Step 2
Prepare the green onion by washing it thoroughly and slicing it thinly into bite-sized pieces. This will add a wonderful aroma to the broth.
Step 3
Prepare the star ingredient: the snow crab. These are leftover body pieces from the previous day, approximately 1.5 portions. It’s helpful to clean and separate the crab meat from the shell for easier eating.
Step 4
Bring a pot of water to a boil for two packs of ramen. It’s recommended to use about 1.5 times the usual amount of water for ramen, as the seasoning paste will reduce the liquid and enhance the flavor concentration, resulting in a richer broth.
Step 5
In a separate small pan, heat 3 tablespoons of cooking oil over medium-low heat. Add the sliced green onions and slowly sauté them until fragrant and slightly golden, creating a flavorful green onion oil. Once the onions are lightly browned, add 1 tablespoon of doenjang and fry it for about 30 seconds. This step deepens the savory flavor of the soybean paste. Finally, quickly stir in 2 tablespoons of gochugaru and 1 tablespoon of guk-ganjang. Stir-fry briefly until well combined, and your delicious snow crab ramen seasoning paste is ready.
Step 6
Once the main pot of water is boiling, add the prepared snow crab pieces first. Then, add the ramen soup base packets and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes to allow the sweet and savory flavors of the crab to infuse into the broth.
Step 7
After the crab has released its flavor into the broth, stir in the prepared snow crab ramen seasoning paste. Add the rehydrated seaweed as well. Bring the soup back to a rolling boil and let it simmer for another 2-3 minutes to ensure all the flavors meld together beautifully.
Step 8
Finally, add the ramen noodles to the pot. Cook until the noodles are perfectly tender, and your delightful snow crab ramen is complete. Feel free to add a raw egg or other seafood for an even more luxurious dish!
