Main Ingredients
- 4 squids (body portion)
- 1 large green onion
- 1/2 onion (sliced)
- 2 Korean chili peppers (optional, for adjusting spiciness)
Seasoning Ingredients
- 1 Tbsp Gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 4 Tbsp Gochugaru (Korean chili flakes – recommend 1 Tbsp Cheongyang chili flakes, 3 Tbsp regular)
- 4 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 3 Tbsp Oligodang (corn syrup or other sweetener, adjust to taste)
- 1 Tbsp Plum Extract
- 1 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
- 1 Tbsp Gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 4 Tbsp Gochugaru (Korean chili flakes – recommend 1 Tbsp Cheongyang chili flakes, 3 Tbsp regular)
- 4 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 3 Tbsp Oligodang (corn syrup or other sweetener, adjust to taste)
- 1 Tbsp Plum Extract
- 1 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Clean the squid thoroughly and cut it into round, appealing pieces. If you buy pre-cleaned squid, you can simply use the body. Cut them into your desired size.
Step 2
Place the cut squid in a bowl and add all the prepared seasoning ingredients. If you prefer it spicier, consider adding Cheongyang chili flakes (e.g., 1 Tbsp Cheongyang chili flakes + 3 Tbsp regular chili flakes).
Step 3
Gently mix the ingredients with your hands until the seasoning is evenly coated. Let the marinated squid rest in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. While the squid is marinating, slice the onion and cut the green onion into large pieces.
Step 4
Heat a pan over high heat. Add the marinated squid, sliced onion, and large pieces of green onion. Stir-fry quickly over high heat. It’s important not to overcook the squid, as it can become tough.
Step 5
Once all ingredients are cooked and the sauce has thickened slightly, turn off the heat. Drizzle in 1 Tbsp of sesame oil for aroma and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds to finish. Your delicious, glossy stir-fried squid is ready!
