- 300g bean sprouts
- 1/2 tsp sea salt (for boiling)
Seasoning Ingredients
- 10cm green onion (finely chopped)
- 2 Tbsp gochugaru (Korean chili flakes, adjust to taste)
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 Tbsp Yeondu Pure Essence
- 1 Tbsp Yeondu Cheongyang Pepper
- 1 tsp sugar (adjust sweetness)
- 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
- 10cm green onion (finely chopped)
- 2 Tbsp gochugaru (Korean chili flakes, adjust to taste)
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 Tbsp Yeondu Pure Essence
- 1 Tbsp Yeondu Cheongyang Pepper
- 1 tsp sugar (adjust sweetness)
- 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, thoroughly wash the bean sprouts under running water and drain them in a colander.
Step 2
Place the washed bean sprouts in a pot and add enough water to cover them completely. Add 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt, cover the pot with a lid, and bring it to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium and continue to cook for about 3 to 5 minutes. Be careful not to overcook them, as they can become mushy.
Step 3
Immediately after cooking, rinse the bean sprouts under cold running water to cool them down. This step helps maintain their crisp texture. Drain them thoroughly in a colander; excess water can make the seasoning dilute.
Step 4
Transfer the drained bean sprouts to a mixing bowl. Add the finely chopped green onion and gochugaru. Gently toss these ingredients with the bean sprouts to coat them lightly before adding the main seasonings.
Step 5
Once the bean sprouts are lightly coated with gochugaru, it’s time to add the rest of the seasonings. Add 1 tablespoon of Yeondu Pure Essence, 1 tablespoon of Yeondu Cheongyang Pepper, and 1 tablespoon of minced garlic. For added richness, mix in 1 teaspoon of toasted sesame seeds and 1 tablespoon of sesame oil. If you prefer a touch of sweetness, you can also add 1 teaspoon of sugar.
Step 6
Gently mix and toss the bean sprouts with all the seasonings until well combined. Be careful not to mash them. Your delicious, zesty, and spicy seasoned bean sprouts are now ready!
Step 7
The key to this recipe is using ‘Yeondu Essence’ instead of regular soy sauce for a clean yet deep umami flavor, and ‘Yeondu Cheongyang Pepper’ for a fresh, bright spiciness rather than an artificial heat. This combination results in a refreshing and pleasantly spicy bean sprout dish that’s not overpowering.
Step 8
I personally love spicy food and often use fresh cheongyang peppers. However, with ‘Yeondu Cheongyang Pepper’, I can now create delicious spicy dishes much more easily and quickly. It significantly reduces cooking time while delivering a rich spicy flavor, which I find incredibly convenient.
Step 9
While bean sprouts seasoned simply with soy sauce are tasty, spicing them up with gochugaru and cheongyang pepper creates a different, irresistible side dish. Now, even when you don’t have fresh cheongyang peppers on hand, you can confidently make delicious and spicy dishes with ‘Yeondu Cheongyang Pepper’ anytime!
