Main Ingredients
- 200g Salted Sea Tangle (Miyeok Julgi)
- 1/4 Carrot
Seasoning
- 2 Tbsp Perilla Oil
- 1 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- Salt to taste
- Sesame Seeds (for garnish)
- 2 Tbsp Perilla Oil
- 1 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- Salt to taste
- Sesame Seeds (for garnish)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the main ingredient: the salted sea tangle.
Step 2
Place the sea tangle in a bowl and rinse it with cold water to remove some of the salt. Rinse it a few more times, then fill the bowl with enough cold water to submerge the tangle. Let it soak for about 30 minutes to thoroughly remove excess salt.
Step 3
Once the saltiness has been reduced to your liking, drain the sea tangle well in a sieve and squeeze out any excess water. Transfer it to a cutting board and cut it into bite-sized pieces (about 5-7 cm long is recommended).
Step 4
Peel the carrot and julienne it thinly. Cutting it too thick can affect the texture after stir-frying.
Step 5
Heat a deep pan over medium heat. Add the prepared sea tangle and 2 tablespoons of perilla oil. Begin stir-frying, allowing the nutty aroma of the perilla oil to infuse the tangle.
Step 6
As the moisture from the sea tangle evaporates and it starts to glisten, add 1 tablespoon of minced garlic. Continue to stir-fry for another 1-2 minutes until the garlic is fragrant.
Step 7
Next, add the julienned carrots to the pan and stir-fry them together. Be careful not to overcook the carrots; they should remain slightly crisp.
Step 8
Mix all the ingredients well. Taste and season with salt if needed. If the sea tangle was soaked for too long or was less salty to begin with, add salt gradually until it reaches your desired flavor. Finally, turn off the heat and garnish with sesame seeds.
Step 9
Your delicious Stir-fried Sea Tangle is ready! A key tip for a great texture is to stir-fry the carrots just enough so they remain slightly crunchy. This dish is perfect served over rice or as a lunchbox side. Enjoy this healthy and flavorful meal!
