Main Ingredients
  • 1 Sweet Pumpkin
  • 3 Tbsp Oatmeal Flour
  • 600ml Water

Seasoning
  • Salt to taste

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Wash the sweet pumpkin thoroughly. Place it in the microwave and cook for about 5-7 minutes until it’s slightly softened. This makes peeling much easier.

Step 2

Carefully peel the skin off the sweet pumpkin once it’s cool enough to handle. The skin should come off easily while it’s still warm.

Step 3

Scoop out the seeds and stringy bits from the inside of the pumpkin. Ensure it’s clean for the best texture.

Step 4

Mash the peeled and deseeded sweet pumpkin using a fork or a mashing tool until it’s smooth. Aim for a consistent texture without large lumps.

Step 5

In a pot, combine the mashed sweet pumpkin with 600ml of water. Stir well to mix. If the mixture seems too thick, you can add a little more water.

Step 6

Place the pot over medium heat and bring it to a boil. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

Step 7

Once the porridge starts boiling, reduce the heat to low. Add 3 tablespoons of oatmeal flour, stirring continuously to prevent lumps. Continue to simmer for about 5 minutes, allowing the oatmeal to soften and thicken the porridge.

Step 8

Finally, season with a pinch of salt to taste. The natural sweetness of the pumpkin is usually enough, so just a little salt is needed to enhance the flavor. Stir well and serve warm in bowls. Enjoy your delicious homemade pumpkin oatmeal porridge!
