Main Ingredients
- 2 slices of multigrain bread
- 1 large tomato
- 1 slice of processed cheese
- 1 can of sweet corn kernels
- 1 lettuce leaf
Sauce
- 1 Tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 Tbsp mustard sauce
- 1 Tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 Tbsp mustard sauce
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare one slice of bread which will be the base of your sandwich. Spread mayonnaise and mustard sauce evenly over this slice. It’s recommended to use a mild mustard sauce that isn’t too spicy for children. Next, place a slice of processed cheese neatly on top of the sauced bread.
Step 2
Now it’s time to prepare the top slice of the sandwich. For this slice, we’ll create three circular holes to resemble a ‘traffic light’. Use an apple corer or cookie cutters to carefully make three holes in a row from the top of the bread slice. This step will result in a cute sandwich with corn kernels peeking through.
Step 3
Let’s layer the ingredients on the base bread with the cheese. Thinly slice the tomato and place it on the bread. Fold the fresh lettuce leaf in half before placing it on top for added texture and flavor. If your child is hesitant about eating vegetables, you can finely chop the tomato or spread it like a jam.
Step 4
This is the final step! Carefully place the bread slice with the holes on top of the layered ingredients. Then, fill the central hole with plenty of canned sweet corn kernels. Your adorable traffic light sandwich is now complete! Enjoy the fun of filling the holes with the popping corn kernels together with your child.
