Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 slice of ham (optional)

Seasoning & Toppings
  • Mayonnaise
  • Sugar
  • Ketchup (optional)
  • Parsley flakes (optional)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare the ham if you’re using it. Adding ham makes it even more flavorful! (This step is optional.)

Step 2

Finely chop the ham to perfectly complement the toast. If you have cheese at home, feel free to add it for extra deliciousness!

Step 3

You’ll need one slice of bread and one egg for each toast. Isn’t that wonderfully simple? (Using 2 eggs for 4 slices of bread.)

Step 4

Thinly spread mayonnaise on one side of the bread. This will make the bread wonderfully moist.

Step 5

Sprinkle sugar lightly over the mayonnaise. This adds a lovely sweetness.

Step 6

Next, pipe mayonnaise around the edges of the bread where you’ve spread the mayo and sugar, leaving the center clear. This creates a ‘dam’ to hold the egg.

Step 7

Sprinkle a little of the chopped ham into the center, where the egg will go.

Step 8

Carefully crack an egg into the center, directly onto the ham. Try not to break the yolk!

Step 9

Sprinkle a bit more ham on top of the egg! Don’t be surprised – this is almost the entire cooking process! Haha!

Step 10

Place the assembled toast on a microwave-safe plate.

Step 11

Microwave for 1 minute and 30 seconds. For a runny yolk (sunny-side up), aim for 1 minute 30 seconds. If you prefer a fully cooked yolk (over hard), cook for 2 minutes. Adjust the time based on your preference!

Step 12

Beep beep beep! Once the microwave finishes, carefully open the door!

Step 13

Wow, look at this incredible visual! (I personally prefer a runny yolk, so I only microwaved for 1 minute and 30 seconds.)

Step 14

Seriously, the visual is just mind-blowing! This ‘Addictive Toast’ is perfect with a glass of milk for a snack or brunch!

Step 15

I had intended to sprinkle parsley flakes to make it even prettier, but honestly, it looked so delicious right out of the microwave that I just ate it! The mayonnaise makes it moist and tender, while being savory and not at all greasy. You’ll understand why it’s called ‘Addictive Toast’ once you try it!

Step 16

This time, I decided to add ketchup for a pizza-like visual. It works great as a substitute for tomato sauce.

Step 17

Ketchup tastes great drizzled on top and eaten immediately, but microwaving it briefly like this also makes it wonderfully delicious, akin to eating pizza bread. Feel free to enjoy it in different ways according to your taste!
