Chewy & Sweet Butter-Grilled Squid
Perfect for Beer Snacks & Kids’ Treats! Squid Butter Grill Recipe
Introducing a simple yet elegant recipe for butter-grilled squid at home, using semi-dried squid. The combination of flavorful butter, sweet sugar, and savory ramen soup powder is exceptional. Everyone from kids to adults will love it, so be sure to try making it!
Main Ingredients
- 2 semi-dried squids
- 20g butter (or to taste)
- 2 Tbsp sugar (or to taste)
- 1 packet ramen soup powder (choose your favorite, e.g., Neoguri, Samyang)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, heat a frying pan over medium-low heat. Add 20g of butter and let it melt, spreading evenly across the pan. Be careful not to burn the butter by adjusting the heat.
Step 2
Once the butter has melted, place the semi-dried squids in the frying pan. Remove the hard beak (mouth part) from the center of the squid for easier eating. Then, spread the squid out in the pan.
Step 3
When one side of the squid is lightly cooked, flip it over and grill the other side. Adjust the heat to medium at this stage. As the squid starts to shrink while cooking, remove any wooden skewers or toothpicks that might be inserted between the tentacles; this will help the tentacles separate naturally and smoothly.
Step 4
When the squid’s body starts to curl up, use scissors or a knife to make cuts along the edges, as if scoring them. This helps the squid cook more evenly and allows the seasoning to penetrate better, improving the texture.
Step 5
Now, generously sprinkle 2 tablespoons of sugar over the squid. Evenly sprinkling sugar on each side will enhance the sweet caramelization effect.
Step 6
Flip the sugared squid and grill it until the sugar melts and caramelizes beautifully. Pay special attention to cooking the inner parts where the body and tentacles connect, ensuring they are cooked through. This completes your delicious butter-grilled squid!
Step 7
Once fully cooked, cut the squid into bite-sized pieces (about 2-3 cm apart). No other sauce is needed! Finally, generously sprinkle 1 packet of ramen soup powder over the squid for the perfect seasoning. The moment you sprinkle it, your squid butter grill will magically transform into an incredibly tasty dish. It’s perfect as a beer snack or a treat for kids!
