Fragrant Seasoned Chaminari Salad
Mom’s Recipe for Delicious and Aromatic Chaminari Salad
While spinach salad is tasty, why not try a fresh and fragrant Chaminari salad for a change? Its wonderful aroma and delightful taste make it a perfect side dish. This simple recipe is easy for anyone to follow.
Main Ingredients
- 1 bunch Chaminari (Korean potherb)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Gently wash the Chaminari under running water, making sure to clean between the leaves and stems to remove any dirt or debris. Trim off any wilted or damaged parts at this stage.
Step 2
Bring a pot of water to a rolling boil. Add the cleaned Chaminari and blanch it for about 30 seconds to 1 minute. Be careful not to overcook, as it can become mushy.
Step 3
Immediately rinse the blanched Chaminari in cold water to cool it down. This step helps maintain its crisp texture. Gently squeeze out excess water by pressing with your hands or by placing it in a colander. Avoid squeezing too hard, as this can diminish the herb’s fragrance.
Step 4
Place the squeezed Chaminari in a mixing bowl. Add 1/2 tablespoon of minced garlic. If you prefer a milder garlic flavor, you can reduce the amount or omit it.
Step 5
Add a pinch of salt for initial seasoning. It’s best to start with a small amount and adjust the taste later rather than adding too much at once.
Step 6
Add a little chopped green onion to enhance the flavor. The green onion complements the Chaminari’s aroma wonderfully.
Step 7
Drizzle in 1 tablespoon of sesame oil. The sesame oil will enrich the Chaminari’s flavor, making it even more delicious.
Step 8
Add 1/2 tablespoon of toasted sesame seeds and gently mix with your hands. Mixing in the sesame seeds enhances the nutty flavor. Taste the salad at this point and adjust the seasoning if needed.
Step 9
If the salad tastes a bit bland, add about 1/2 tablespoon of soy sauce. Adjust the amount of soy sauce according to your preference, but be mindful not to add too much, as it can overpower the Chaminari’s natural taste. Add it gradually while tasting. I found that 1/2 tablespoon of soy sauce was perfect for me after mixing thoroughly.
Step 10
Mix everything well until all the seasonings are evenly distributed. Your delicious Chaminari salad is ready! Serve it attractively on a plate. This fragrant and nutty Chaminari salad is a true appetite booster, with its balanced seasoning and refreshing aroma.
