Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Hello everyone! Today, we’re going to make a hearty and nutritious beef and seaweed soup, a beloved classic. This comforting soup is perfect for brightening up your mealtime.

Step 2

Start by heating a pot over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of sesame oil. Add the 200g of beef brisket and stir-fry until the color of the meat changes and it’s no longer pink. This step helps to bring out the rich flavor of the beef.

Step 3

Once the beef has browned slightly, add the 25g of dried seaweed, which you should have rehydrated and cut into manageable pieces. Stir-fry the seaweed with the beef for about 3-4 minutes. This allows the seaweed to absorb the flavors and release its own subtle oceanic notes.

Step 4

Thoroughly stir-frying the beef and seaweed until tender is key to developing a deep flavor and tender texture. Now, add 1 teaspoon of minced garlic and a pinch of salt to season. Pour in 1.5 liters of water to form the soup base.

Step 5

Bring the soup to a rolling boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to medium-low. Skim off any foam that rises to the surface for a clearer broth. Add 3 tablespoons of soy sauce for soup and 1 tablespoon of fish sauce to enhance the umami. Finally, adjust the seasoning with salt according to your preference. Be careful not to oversalt!

Step 6

And there you have it – a deeply flavorful and satisfying beef and seaweed soup! Served piping hot with a bowl of rice, this soup makes for a wonderfully wholesome and delicious meal. Enjoy!
