Nostalgic Street Toast
Making Baek Jong-won’s Street Toast from ‘Housewarming Meal Teacher 2’!
For brunch today, I decided to recreate the famous street toast from the TV show ‘Housewarming Meal Teacher 2’. It uses simple ingredients, is incredibly easy to make, and tastes absolutely delicious! This classic Korean street food is perfect for a quick and satisfying meal. Let’s get started on making it right away!
Ingredients
- Cabbage, about 3 leaves
- Green onion, about 10cm
- Carrot, about 1/4
- Bread slices, 2
- Salt, 1 pinch
- Butter, 2 slices
- Sugar, to taste
- Ketchup, to taste
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
We’ll be using 2 eggs per toast. Since I’m making 2 toasts today, I’ve prepared 4 slices of bread, 4 eggs, and a generous amount of chopped vegetables.
Step 2
Grab a standard-sized cup to measure your vegetables. Fill about 2/3 of the cup with finely shredded cabbage, and the remaining 1/3 with chopped green onions and carrots. This one cup of mixed vegetables is the perfect amount for one toast.
Step 3
In a bowl, crack 2 eggs and add a pinch of salt. Whisk them together until well combined. Then, add all the vegetables from the cup into the bowl and mix thoroughly with the egg mixture.
Step 4
Let your child help with mixing the vegetables and eggs! It’s a fun way for them to participate in the cooking process.
Step 5
Now, let’s toast the bread. Melt one slice of butter in a preheated pan and toast the bread slices on both sides until they turn a lovely golden brown. A nice crispy texture is key!
Step 6
In another pan, melt another slice of butter over medium-low heat. Pour in the vegetable and egg mixture and cook until the edges are golden brown. Gently press down with a spatula to ensure even cooking.
Step 7
Once the egg mixture is cooked (while the heat is off), place it on top of one of the toasted bread slices. Trim it to fit the shape of the bread using kitchen scissors. Don’t worry if it’s not perfect! You can stack any excess cooked egg mixture on top for extra thickness.
Step 8
Now for the flavor! Sprinkle your desired amount of sugar over the vegetable and egg topping, then drizzle ketchup in a zig-zag pattern. Finally, place the second slice of toasted bread on top to complete your delicious ‘Housewarming Meal Teacher 2’ style street toast!
Step 9
For an even richer flavor, try adding a slice of cheese! The melted cheese adds a wonderfully deep and savory dimension to the toast. Both kids and adults will love this variation.
Step 10
This nutritious ‘Housewarming Meal Teacher 2’ street toast is perfect as a snack for kids or a hearty breakfast. Making it myself, I can confirm it’s incredibly delicious and addictive! +_+
