Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the pork cutlets. If using store-bought frozen pork cutlets, lightly brush them with cooking oil. Place them in an air fryer set to 180°C (350°F) and cook for 15 minutes until golden brown and crispy. (You can also fry them in a pan or deep fryer.)
Step 2
While the pork cutlets are cooking, wash and thoroughly dry the cabbage. Then, shred it as thinly as possible. The thinner the shreds, the more tender and delicious the salad will be.
Step 3
In a bowl with the shredded cabbage, add 1 tablespoon of whole grain mustard and 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise. Sprinkle in 2 teaspoons of sugar for a touch of sweetness.
Step 4
Gently mix the ingredients until the dressing is evenly distributed throughout the cabbage. Let it sit for a few minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
Step 5
Prepare 12 crisp lettuce leaves. Cut them to roughly match the size of your bread slices for easier assembly in the sandwich.
Step 6
Melt the 15g of butter in a pan over medium heat. Grill the bread slices on both sides until they are golden brown and toasted. The butter will add a wonderful aroma and flavor.
Step 7
Lay out a piece of parchment paper on a cutting board or work surface. Place the 4 toasted bread slices side by side, ready for assembly.
Step 8
Spread a layer of whole grain mustard evenly over two of the bread slices. On the remaining two slices, spread a generous amount of mayonnaise.
Step 9
Place 2 slices of cheese on top of the bread slices spread with whole grain mustard. The residual heat will slightly melt the cheese, adding creaminess.
Step 10
Layer 6 lettuce leaves on top of the cheese on each sandwich half. Stack them neatly to create a fresh and crisp base.
Step 11
Pile a generous amount of the prepared cabbage salad on top of the lettuce. This adds volume and a delightful crunch to the sandwich.
Step 12
Now, place one whole, crispy pork cutlet on top of the cabbage salad on each sandwich. Keeping the cutlet whole provides a satisfying bite.
Step 13
Generously slather tonkatsu sauce over the pork cutlet. Don’t be shy – the sauce is key to the rich flavor of the sandwich!
Step 14
Tip: The Delicious Market tonkatsu sauce is a good, versatile option that works well in sandwiches. Feel free to use your favorite brand.
Step 15
Once the pork cutlet is in place, top it off with the remaining bread slices that have been spread with mayonnaise. Gently press down to secure all the layers.
Step 16
A truly great sandwich is all about its thickness! This sandwich is wonderfully substantial with all the delicious fillings.
Step 17
To ensure the sandwich stays together neatly, wrap it tightly with plastic wrap, such as Glad Magic Wrap.
Step 18
Wrap the sandwich about two times to secure it firmly. A tight wrap will help maintain its shape when you cut it.
Step 19
With the sandwich securely wrapped, carefully cut it in half. Use a sharp knife for a clean cut, being mindful of the fillings.
Step 20
Look at that cross-section! The layers of ingredients are beautifully showcased. It looks incredibly satisfying. ^^

Your thick and hearty pork cutlet sandwich is complete! Enjoy this delicious and filling meal or snack, easily made right at home.
