Ingredients
- 1 small sweet pumpkin (like a ‘bam danho-bak’, smaller than regular varieties)
- 1 tsp salt
- Pinch of black pepper
- 1 egg
- Shredded cheese (mozzarella or a blend, to taste)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, wash the sweet pumpkin thoroughly. (For this recipe, a smaller variety called ‘bam danho-bak’ was used, which is smaller than a typical pumpkin. Ensure it’s clean and ready for use after removing any seeds.)

Carefully slice off the top portion of the pumpkin, about 2cm down, to create a lid. This will make it easier to fill and cook. (Don’t cut all the way through; leave it attached like a lid.)

Hollow out the inside of the pumpkin, then gently crack one egg into the cavity.

Now, use a fork to lightly break the yolk. This ensures the egg cooks evenly and mixes well within the pumpkin, resulting in a smoother texture.

Season the egg with 1 teaspoon of salt and a pinch of black pepper. The natural sweetness of the pumpkin will complement the savory egg.

Generously sprinkle shredded cheese over the seasoned egg. You can add more or less cheese depending on your preference for a richer flavor.

Place the pumpkin in the microwave and cook for approximately 5 minutes. Cooking time may vary slightly depending on the size of the pumpkin and microwave wattage. Cook until the cheese is melted and the egg is set.
